Peacelight

Peacelight Ceremony, Saturday, Dec 9, 2023, in Linz, Austria

The Peace Light, a symbol of the Light of Christ, promotes peace, harmony, and unity amongst all people of the world. For several decades, Scouts and others around the world have actively promoted global peace and harmony through sharing of the Peace Light. Each year, a child from Upper Austria travels as a pilgrim to the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem to obtain the flame. On Sat, Dec 9, 2023, a ceremony is to be held in Linz, Austria to share the Light with Scouting delegations from across Europe who will share the light within their own countries. TAC will form a delegation which will represent the Boy Scouts of America at the Peacelight Ceremony. This delegation will consist of the delegation lead, who is Patrick Thomas, a speaker for intercession/prayer, light bearer, flag bearer. These latter three positions are for Scouts.

Any Scout who is interested in signing up for the TAC/BSA delegation is to contact Patrick Thomas at barbarossachair@gmail.com, and CC the Council Commissioner, Jeff Arter, who is the TAC Peacelight coordinator, at tac.c.commish@gmail.com.

TAC Scouts and Scouters who participate in the Peace Light Ceremony in Vienna or in the Peace Light distribution within their host nation, are entitled to purchase a special Peace Light patch and/or year strip through the TAC Program Service Center.
