Your First Step: Self-study Training

Grab a cup of coffee, make yourself comfortable,
and click on the links below to start your BSA training.

1. Fast Start Training
For Cub Scout leaders and parents: Cub Scout Fast Start
For Boy Scout leaders and parents: Boy Scout Fast Start
For Venture leaders and parents: Venturing Fast Start

Remember to send your unit a message telling them the date you completed this training.

Get the latest ordering info from www.scoutstuff.org --> "Literature" --> "Audiovisual Items"
then submit an order to the TAC scout shop

Initial Training for Chartered Organisation Representatives (good to know even if you're not a COR):

2. Youth Protection Training

Youth Protection Training is essential to be a successful adult leader in the Boy Scouts of America. You do need to know our policies and procedures in dealing with youth in a positive manner. You will also learn our policies that create barriers to abuse, and what to do if faced with a situation where you suspect abuse is occuring in the Scouting program.  This course is linked to the National BSA website

For all scouting leaders and parents: http://olc.scouting.org
If you complete the course and do not receive confirmation (can happen depending on your firewall settings and pop-up blockers), please email The TAC Office.

If you have a problem completing the course it may be that you do not have the latest version of Adobe. Please download the latest version and see if that fixes the problem.

Here is a note from a TAC Scouter who had trouble with the screens for the test...."Thanks a lot for your quick help, I downloaded again the flash plug-in from adobe.com and it did the trick!"

3. Guide to Safe Scouting
Want to do things "by the book"? This is "the book". Read it, memorize it, sleep with a copy of it under your pillow.
http://www.scouting.org/pubs/gss/ or order a printed copy (BSA Supply #34416F) from the TAC scout shop.

4. Information on Being a Chartered Organization Representative

Each pack, troop, and crew are chartered by an organization, our chartered partners. There is an important individual that serves as a link between the scouting program and our chartered partners, the Chartered Organization Representative. This slide presentation provides an overview to the role and responsibility of the Chartered Organization Representative
