  Council Administrator Comments

31 March 2008

Friends and Scouters,

There is much speculation concernng the future of our council. Last week Transatlanic Council was informed that its professional staff will need to relocate to a country where there is an agreement in place to provide logistical support. None of the details has been established as yet and it will take time to research all the possible options for the council. We are working in partnership with US Army Europe and the US European Command. We will keep you informed as decisions are reached.

The purpose of Transatlantic Council is to provide support to the youth, volunteers, and communities who are part of our council. Our support comes from a field service team, administrative team, our volunteer commissioner staff, district committee teams, Executive Board and volunteers reaching out and helping volunteers. We plan to carry on our programs including our Conference this weekend, the Normandy Camporee, Wood Badge, our summer camps in Germany (yes, we have a backup plan if the new camp is not ready), Camp Alpine (Switzerland), and Baden-Powell (England), and Golden Falcon. We will continue to work with community day camp programs. Districts will still conduct training events, and activities. In short, we will continue to provide the support necessary for a thriving Scouting program.

Certainly the council structure will change over the coming months. At each step we will look and see how our volunteers are impacted and how we can continue in working with you to insure a vibrant future for our Scouting program.

Thank you for all you do for our youth. Please carry on delivering the promise of Scouting!!!!

Yours in Scouting Friendship
Vince
