How Many Points do we Have?
Statements are sent out quarterly with your points along with your Scout Shop Unit Account Statement or you can contact us at points@tac-bsa.org when you need to know.
*Points are not redeemable outside the Transatlantic Council.

EARNING UNIT-BOOSTER BONUS POINTS
Friends of Scouting donations: Receive 1 point for every $1 donated to Transatlantic Council. Pledges count when the pledge is paid in full. (In cases where the pledge is only partially paid, only the paid amount will be credited). Example: Your unit raises $2000 for Friends of Scouting. You receive 2000 points.
Gifts procured by individuals/units from businesses, associations and matching gift programs will also be credited to the unit point total. To qualify, gifts must be unrestricted for the general operating budget.

Friends of Scouting participation: 10 points will be awarded for every 5% of the unit membership participating in the Friends of Scouting campaign. This number is the number of youth at recharter (usually the smallest number in the year). A gift is a contribution of $25 or more.

Friends of Scouting recognitions: Some donors receive special mementos as a token
of appreciation for their donation. These recognitions correspond to their level of donation. From now on, these donors may opt to instead receive their recognition in the form of points that can be added to the Unit total (10 percent of the amount donated)!

Popcorn Sales
10 points for every $30 of popcorn sold. Points are calculated based on the 60 percent of funds earned for the Council, minus Council project costs. Example: Pack 123 sells $1000 worth of popcorn. Pack 123 keeps $400 and turns in $600. Pack 123 would then receive 200 points for their unit.

Bowl-a-thon
Units will receive 10 points for every $10 raised for the Transatlantic Council.

Transatlantic Council Scout Store
Units* receive 1 point for every $2 worth of merchandise ordered from the Transatlantic Council Scout Shop.
*This applies to Unit Orders Only. Example: If Mrs Scout Mom orders a uniform for her son, we will not be able to credit the Unit for the sale. If Troop 123 orders x uniforms for their Scouts then we would credit Troop 123 with the sale.

FAQs
When does the point program take effect?
The Unit-Booster Point Program starts with the 2011 Friends of Scouting campaign and applies to all Council Scout Shop sales as of January 3, 2011.

How are points recorded?
A spreadsheet with all unit points will be maintained in the Scout Shop. From now on, a unit point statement will be mailed to the unit Committee Chair together with the unit’s quarterly statement. You can also inquire at any time about your point total by e-mailing the Scout Shop (scoutshop@tac-bsa.org) or contacting your District Scout Executive.

How long do the points last?
Points must be used within 24 months of being earned. Each quarterly point statement will list expiration dates for all unit points earned to date.

What does the Unit-Booster Bonus Points program replace?
TAC’s Unit-Booster Bonus Points program replaces the Presidential Unit recognition for Friends of Scouting. The Presidential Unit discount expires on February 28, 2011 and will not be renewed. This program change recognizes the many ways in which Units financially support the Transatlantic Council and allows each Unit to best select how they wish to apply points earned for shop discounts and other benefits.

Does the program replace personal recognition in the Friends of Scouting campaign? Absolutely not! Not only will we continue to recognize donors with a personal memento in appreciation for their support, but we now give the option for each donor to choose if they would like to receive a personal gift OR if they would rather receive their gift in the form of points (10 percent of their donated pledge) that are automatically added to their Unit’s point total.

I noticed that you did not mention the Combined Federal Campaign as part of the Unit-Booster Bonus Points Program?
The Combined Federal Campaign for US government employees is an important campaign for many organizations including Transatlantic Council. We receive nearly $50,000 a year through the generous support of the campaign’s participants. Unfortunately, we do not receive a list of donors so we cannot acknowledge these gifts individually nor credit them to a particular unit.
