Mayflower Camping - Coming Soon for the 2010/2011 program year:
Fall Camporee 2010
(for Ventures, Boy Scouts & Webelos II)
Theme: Mysterious Game of OTT
Location: Youlbury Scout Activity Centre
Dates 24-26 September 2010
Registration due by 10 September 2010 (See info pack)
In the small Eastern European country of OTT everyone is a spy. No one knows why, just that everyone is a spy. The national past time is code making and code breaking, which makes secrets theirs for the taking.
Spy hunters are needed to stop this silly rhyming, collect the codes and then find the secret left by the Chief Spy.
The Information Pack can be downloaded here. 2010.09_may_fall_camp.pdf
Please note that the Camporee will offer the opportunity to put to the test the skills in the Signaling centennial merit badge. We hope this encourages troops to hold a Signaling merit badge course within their own troops before the Camporee.
Contact Luke Johnson (tenskwatawa@gmail.com) to register or to get more information.

Dates are set in the Mayflower calendar for training opportunities. Details of what training is required for each leader will be posted shortly after BSA has finalized the new training for Cub Scouts 2010.
Boy Scout Training is unaffected and is as follows:
Stage 1: Online –
BEFORE THE CLASSROOM TRAINING - Sorry to be the bearer of homework, but this is easy and fun stuff. Access the BSA E-Learning web site by setting up a "MyScouting” web portal account (if you don't already have one).
To set up your account go to https://myscouting.scouting.org. (please note the https). Select "create an account". You should have your personnel ID number handy (it’s the nine digit number on your scout membership card or contact the TAC office for your membership records). Once you have completed registration you can access the E-learning web site from your MyScouting web portal.
There are 3 short on-line courses which Boy Scout Leaders need to complete.
1. Fast Start for Scoutmasters (approx 1hr)
2. Youth Protection Training (approx 30 minutes)
3. This Is Scouting (approx 1:30 hr)
For Troop Committee Members, all your training is online:
1. Fast Start for Scoutmasters (approx 1hr)
2. Youth Protection Training (approx 30 minutes)
3. This Is Scouting (approx 1:30 hr)
4. Troop Committee Challenge (approx 1hr)
As you complete training courses the results will be reported to the Transatlantic Council and you will also be able to print out a completion certificate. BRING THE CERTIFICATES with you to the next stage of the training.
Stage 2: Classroom -
Dates for classroom training are on the Mayflower calendar (see link to the left).
Stage 3: Outdoor Course –
BALOO is a separate outdoor course for Cub Scout Leaders wishing to go "Pack Family Camping", such as to Normandy in April 2011. Dates are as per the District Calendar and more details will follow.
For Scoutmasters/Assistant Scoutmasters and for Webelos leaders that wish to go camping with the Webelos, the Outdoor Course will next be held in October 2010. Check back soon or contact your Unit Commissioner.
