National Scout Jamboree 2013
Welcome to the section of the Transatlantic Council website which is for the National Scout Jamboree 2013. Here you will find information for scouts, venturers and leaders attending the Jamboree. The 2013 Jamboree will be held at the Summit, a brand new Boy Scouts of America High Adventure base situated in the middle of 70,000 acres of the New River Gorge National River Area. The Jamboree takes place between 15 July to 24 July 2013. During the Jamboree there will be loads of amaizing activities including: BMX bikes, fly fishing, geocaching, kayaking, rock climbing, rifle & shotgun shooting, scuba, skateboarding, whitewater rafting and lots more. There will also be the big events such as arena shows (think rock concerts!) and the day of service for scouts to give back to the community. Transatlantic Council has confirmed (and filled) two troops (36 scouts & 4 adults each) and one crew (8 scouts and 2 adults) for the contingent already. We are still taking registrations for a waiting list and will look to place scouts on the waiting list with other councils if necessary. You can sign up now at: www.bsajamboree.org. The Jamboree is a once in a lifetime experience. The fee for Transatlantic Council participants is $1500. This does not include your airfare which to be arranged by each scout's family to an East Coast US gateway city (to be determined) or your air fare to the Pre-Jamboree Shakedown Weekend (see Latest News). The whole contingent will travel together for a few days before the Jamboree to visit some historical and fun sites as we make our way from our rally point to the Summit. This pre-jamboree tour, as well as all the pre-jamboree trainings, is included in the council fee. You can sign up at the official BSA website: www.bsajamboree.org.
You do not have to be in Transatlantic Council in the summer of 2013 to sign up, if you move in the meantime, we can still bring you with us. Don't miss out on this great opportunity!!!
