Dear Eagle Scout!
Was it a year ago or maybe 5 (10, 15 or more) years ago? No matter when it happened, we're sure you remember that swelling of pride as the Eagle scout ribbon was attached to your uniform. The ceremony was a celebration of your accomplishment and filled with the symbolism involved with the award.
You probably heard words that day that told how achieving the Eagle rank was not an end but truly a beginning. You became a marked man on that day. You were marked because of the expectations all now have of you to take advantage of opportunities to help your fellow man, community, profession, and the Scouting movement.
EAGLES SOAR-Eagle Scouts-Scouting On, Adding Resources-is an opportunity for you to live up to those expectations and help Scouting in Europe's Transatlantic Council. EAGLES SOAR is a service organization comprised of all interested Eagle Scouts in Europe. We are setting an example in our communities through volunteering and assisting Scouting units in our neighborhoods, areas, and across Europe, and by serving as resources and mentors to our fellow Scouts.
This is the inaugural year of EAGLES SOAR-one that is filled with great promise and objectives. EAGLES SOAR will promote the Eagle Scout Award, camping scholarships, the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award, and the Scoutmaster Award of Merit, while also developing a pool of resources for the Scouting community to turn to for assistance, and opportunities for Eagle Scouts, past and present, to enjoy fellowship with each other.
Join with us as we set sail on this exciting mission. This inaugural year will run through 31 December 2010. Membership is open to all Eagle Scouts. Your support of Eagles SOAR will provide you an opportunity to give back to Scouting, opportunities to recapture the Spirit of Scouting and the Spirit of the Eagle, and opportunities to enjoy fellowship and camaraderie with your fellow Eagle Scouts. Your membership fee of $25 will also include a council shoulder strip commemorating this inaugural event.
We thank you for being true to the Eagle Challenge!
