Imagine sitting around the campfire listening to stories, seeing skits, singing songs as smoke wafts to the star lit sky. Feel the thrill as your son pulls back on his bowstring, releases his arrow and whoosh, it hits the target for the very first time. See your son grow up before your eyes, as he learns that he can take care of himself in the woods. All this and more awaits your boys at Transatlantic Council Cub Scout Resident Camp.

You can attend as a pack, den, or individual Cub Scout to Cub Scout Resident Camp, at Camp Freedom starting on Monday 3 August, and ending on Friday, 7 August. Camp Freedom is located in Oberdachstetten, Germany about 19 kms from Ansbach. Each pack must have one adult leader for every four Cub Scouts. Activities include (weather permitting), swimming, boating, archery, rifle shooting, scout skills, crafts, ecology, campfires, and much more. (this is our first year in our new location, swimming and boating are to be confirmed).

Tigers and Wolves will be sleeping in our brand new Scout dormitory (along with adult leaders) and Bears and Webelos will be camping in tents.

Here is how you register!

1. RESERVE YOUR SLOT FROM JANUARY TO MAY

We expect the Cub Resident Camp to be full. Start by making a $100 deposit. This fee is applied to your total camp fees. Please estimate the number of youth and leaders that will be attending.  This way you will know that there is a place for your pack.

2. Pay your deposit by 15 May

To receive the summer camp discount rate, $50 per youth attending must be paid by 15 May. This money can be sent as a check (payable to TAC-BSA), credit card, unit account, or cash at our TAC Service Center.  Your $100 deposit will cover the fees of two youth. No matter how many youth you estimated, on 1 May, only the slots that have been paid for will be held for your unit. If space is available, you may continue to add scouts to your unit's total after 1 May but they will pay the regular camp fee rate with one exception, if you recruit a new youth and turn in the application form and camp payment at the same time, the new youth will also pay the discount rate.

Fees are transferable. For example, if John Scout signed up and paid for camp, and then cannot attend, and Bill Scout decides he wants to go to camp, Bill can take John's slot. However, it is the unit's responsibility to collect Bill's fees and to reimburse John's family.

3. Pay all remaining fees (including leaders) by 15 June

You will need to do this to receive the discount camper fee rate. Our camps are not equipped to handle large sums of registration money on site.

CAMP FEES

The discount fee is $185.00 per Cub Scout and the regular fee is $205.00. The adult fee is $100.00.  We will also have a Trading Post so you can purchase BSA items.

Please add $30 per youth registration for all out of council packs and Cubs.

Cancellation Fees

$50 for all cancellations after 15 May and before 31 July

$100 for all cancellations for "no shows" on 31 July to the start of camp

For cancellations due to medical reasons, a medical certificate is requested, and fees will be waived.

For cancellations due to family emergencies, unforeseen moves etc,, a statement from the family is needed and fees may be waived.

Although we do need to know the total number of people camping for food purchases, site set-up, etc., we do not charge adult volunteers any cancellation fees.

Foreign Currency payments for Registration Fees

Transatlantic Council serves 25 countries in Europe and operates with a US dollar budget. For units that wish to pay registration fees in local currency, you may do so with the understanding that the actual amount of the local currency to dollar conversion will be used to credit your fees. Banking service fees vary greatly.  All local currency is exchanged at our local bank and that amount will be credited towards camping fees. If there is a surplus, the amount will be credited to your Transatlantic Council account. If the conversion does not pay all the camp fees, the unit should be prepared to pay the balance of fees at camp. (if for example Pack  X pays its fees in pound sterling but by the time it is exchanged, after bank fees Pack  X is short $ 75 from its fees, Pack X should be prepared to pay $75 at camp, if the pack was paying the discounted camper rate, we will maintain that rate for the pack.)
